Sonia (Tkachuk) Ross, 95, a longtime resident of Stoughton, passed away on Wednesday February 28, 2024. She was the devoted wife of the late Benjamin F. Ross Jr. Born in Lawrence, MA on July 2, 1928, she was a daughter to the late Emil and Helen (Uschik) Tkachuk. She was raised and educated in Dorchester, Massachusetts. She graduated from the Jeremiah E. Burke High School in 1944 and the Boston Clerical School in 1946. After a successful early career as a homemaker, she was employed with APA Transport Corp., as a billing clerk for 24 years until her retirement in 1994. She enjoyed trips to Foxwoods, taking rides into Boston to see how the city has changed and stops at Castle Island for a hot dog at Sullivan's. She had a special fondness for cats, especially her most recent, Bob. She will be remembered as a kind and loving soul who always thought of others first as well as her witty sense of humor.
Sonia is survived by her sons Stephen Ross and his wife Noreen, Gary Ross, David Ross, Alan Ross, her daughter Anni Gudinas and her husband Paul and her nephew Paul Kelley and his wife Judy. She was predeceased by her siblings, Vera Doucot, Stephen Tkachuk, Walter Tkachuk and Lola Kelley.
A funeral service for Mrs. Ross will be held on Thursday March 7, 2024 at 11 a.m. from the Sheehan Funeral Home, 115 Monk Street, Stoughton. The Rev. Mary L. Perry, officiating. NOTE: Visitation with the family will be held prior to the service from 9:45 a.m. - 10:45 a.m. Burial will follow in the family lot at Pine Hill Cemetery, W. Bridgewater,MA. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sonia's memory may be made to the Animal Protection Center of Southeastern Massachusetts, 1300 W. Elm Street Ext., Brockton, MA 02301.
